2 Possibilities...maybe?

I've been talking with Danielle and a few others, wondering how to get more participation in setting up/taking down, attending the openings and helping with promotions...for the exhibits. We have the same pool of people doing it each time (3 or 4 of us). So, here are some ideas that we had:

1.Charging a fee of $5 to each artist and returning the fee if he/she helps with set up/take down.

2. Charging a larger fee and returning a part of it and putting the rest in the duag account. we are, after all, poor.

3. your idea? please give me your opinion or share another option

Re: 2 Possibilities...maybe?

First of all, I think that since we are a group...this is a group collaboration and therefore everyone needs to be able to lend a hand IF they are involved or wish to be.  This I think is only fair to the same people who are consistently lending their time.  We are all busy with plenty of other happenings, but this group cannot survive without team work.
That being said.  $5 should be charged every time and not given back...this should go into our pot (i said pot) and thats that.  Now, on top of that if the artist is unwilling or unable to help with either set up or pull down then they have to pay an additional $5-10 depending on the size of the venue of which the ones who help will spend on a beer so it makes the tear down more pleasurable. (just kidding)
Seriously, though, that extra could go into the pot as well...because future venues will or could charge entry fees and no individual (Robin) should have to cough that up since WE are a GROUP.

Also, advertising costs money too and we need to get the word out (hello...green show?)  which on a different note I kinda think we should plan a reshow in the future...around earth day in April?

Anyway...lets do this people...for all of us.

Re: 2 Possibilities...maybe?

I agree with Janelle. Charge a $5 entry fee as well as a fee if you can't help tear down. I'm also a member of the Toledo Artists Club and they charge $25 for 3 pieces for their members for shows...so I really don't think it's a lot to ask. I just feel bad that I live far away or else I would be helping out more. sad
